Haugesund Guide
Haugesund
is the main town of Haugalandet,the North West region of Norway. It is
midway between Bergen and Stavanger.
It is a coastal town with many traditional timber homes.Locally there
is shopping,resturants,cafes and bars (although a beer will set you
back a fiver!)
. Many sports are available including fishing,sailing, golf as well as
the more "extreme sports"
In the area are many beautifull walks, Haugalandet region is surrounded
by fjords,much of the scenery is simply breathtaking
Marilyn Munroes father came from a small village 20KM from Haugesund
called Skjold. Although she never knew him - he was killed in a car
crash shortly after abandoning his family shortly after emigrating to
America, she at one time called herself -Norma Jean Mortensen.
Haugesund also has the longest pedestrian street in Norway
